CCD and Lens Mount
The CCD will be our primary "eyes" on the sky. We will be able to identify a specific pixel on the CCD that corresponds to the center of our receiver, thus facilitating pointing and tracking tasks. At present, the CCD we're using is the STV model from SBIG. The lens is a fixed 100 mm focal length and 50 mm aperture. While we should not have to adjust the focus of the lens with respect to the camera as a matter of standard operations, we will need to be able to set the focus precisely and trust it to stay put.
Besides the focus mechanism, the biggest challenge in this task is sharing space with the motor mount.
Come see me if you want measurements of the lens/CCD. I'll hand them to you...
