PV On Vacation

PV data plot What do you do when you go on vacation, and have a pet-sitter who just might decide to watch 19 straight hours of TV and leave a solar-powered light on non-stop for your pet? Plug these things back into the utility and power off the inverters. This doesn't leave much for the PV system to do. Only a small fraction of the available solar energy each day is used.

The charge controller for system #2 (bottom) did pretty much the same thing every day. The system #1 charge controller, being somewhat "smarter" sometimes did not bother with absorb stage—or had an absorb stage that was so short as-to not register on the monitor.
